Mortar Board, Incorporated
The Agathai chapter at the University of California, Los Angeles, became the 70th chartered chapter of Mortar Board, Inc. in 1939. All chapters across the nation are sectioned into geographic regions that are lead by a section coordinator who works directly with the chapters. The Agathai Chapter is a member of Section 25 (California and Hawaii), which includes: University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Los Angeles; University of California, Santa Barbara; California Polytechnic State University; Chapman University; University of Hawaii; Occidental College; University of the Pacific; Pomona College; University of Redlands; University of San Diego; San Diego State University; and University of Southern California. Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) Since 1937, Mortar Board has been a part of this national organization. ACHS is the nation's only certifying agency for college and university honor societies, and sets standards for organizational excellence and for scholastic eligibility for honor societies. UCLA Center for Student Programming The Agathai chapter of Mortar Board is a registered student organization through the UCLA Center for Student Programming. The Center registers and assists student groups in the development, design, and implementation of activities to maximize their educational benefit and to assure compliance with campus regulations. Staff members, including Mortar Board’s advisor, also facilitate the acquisition and distribution of resources to support student programming and assist with divisional programs and projects in the areas of student skills development in leadership, grantsmanship, and group decision-making.
